“Last Train Out” — Night Layout
The platform lights are too bright for how late it is. Kurt hangs back in the shadow of the vending machines, pretending to read the timetable while he watches Nik pace the yellow line.
The city is already half-abandoned by this hour: storefront lights off, only the neon and cigarette tips still moving. This is the last train that isn’t empty or haunted.
Kurt: Notes
Looks like he’s always just stepped out of a gig or a fight, even when he’s doing something soft. Clothes hang a little wrong, like he slept in them. Takes care of his music gear better than himself.
Never tells a straight story about his childhood, but the details are always too specific to be fake.
Loose Timeline (Pre-Comic)
– Year -2: First time Kurt sees Nik at the station, doesn’t talk to him.
– Year -1: They share a cigarette under the overpass. No names, just smoke.
– Month -3: First time they end up on the same last train by accident.
– Week 0: Start of Chapter 1.
City Notes
The city doesn’t have a canon name in-universe; everyone just calls it “town” like there isn’t anything else to compare it to. Wet concrete, low bridges, stray cats, and flickering shop signs.
